Love Yourself Collaboration with Hometown Flower Co. - A Recap

Happy International Women’s Day, friends.

A month ago, we hosted our first “Love Yourself x Empower with Flowers Event” at Spotlight in Huntington Village.

A sold-out night, this event brought together women from different walks of life to bond while being creative and empowered. Being in this setting is always special for me; I feel the energy around us and I absolutely love stepping into it and feeling my purpose. But, what made it a little more special was having my mom there. As so many creatives will tell you, it’s not always easy to forge a path and it can be hard to explain your goals to family and friends who have taken a more traditional road. For me, it was particularly empowering to be able to show my mom what I do, and for her to see how uniquely powerful what I’m doing is.

I photographed over 3,000 portraits from that night, each one more special than the next. One of my goals this year is to enter editing more as an artist and less from the mindset of “this has to be consistent for Instagram and marketing.” I have always struggled with the same aesthetic from one album to the next because I have never seen each “session” as the same. There are so many variables that make a session unique, from lighting to the weather, to the space, and I’ve always been of the mindset to tell that story. What is consistent about my work is that I get true emotion and authentic moments, how I edit those moments should always be unique to the setting. In breaking that thought pattern that it needs to be the same, I freed myself to edit these photos in a completely different tone than I usually do, and I absolutely love that they’re more art than “standard portrait”.

Below are a few highlights from that night and you can see the full gallery by clicking here.

If you would like to be a part of a session like this, we are hosting a fundraiser on March 23rd. You can also always book a private “Love Yourself Session”, too.
